A Journey of 'Whole-Soul' Intentional Living...

Inspiring You to Live ALL the Colours of Your Truth.

Welcome to Mama Chameleon, where I encourage women to live ALL the colours of their truth.
We are multi-faceted beings that need more than just a tidy house and happy kids to make us feel fulfilled. And yet, so often it feels like motherhood should be "it" for us. It can feel like the doors to nearly everything else have closed.
I am here to tell you that you don't need permission to have passions besides being a great mother. You don't need permission to speak your truth, to take time out for yourself or even to change careers if you want to. YOU are the captain of your ship, and the master of your fate.
When we begin to embrace the idea of cultivating a broader inner-life - exploring new hobbies and interests, tending to our marriage, deepening our spiritual practice, taking care of ourselves first - we become better mothers as a result.
It's like that bumper-sticker saying: "Happy Wife, Happy Life" right?
It's very true that our energy affects our family, and it's our duty as conscious mothers to do what we can to keep our energy high and loving.
But we can't pour from an empty cup... I want to help you take the actions that will fill your cup again
Meet Mama Chameleon - aka Tam Johnson

Tam's purpose in life is to inspire mothers to embrace ALL of who they really are, and get into action to create the life they truly want.

She knows what YOU want and need: you want to feel validated in your desires, and you need to know you have what it takes to get unstuck and bring your dreams to life. Tam lives the transformation everyday and knows without a doubt that if she can do it, anyone can. Read Tam's story here.

She teaches mothers with big dreams & ambitions, the principles and strategies to overcome obstacles, overwhelm and feeling stuck, so they can play-to-win big and feel truly fulfilled in all areas of life.

Then one night Paul came home and said “Eff it, let's move to Wales.” Now, he's said things like this before and I thought he was just having a down day (though I won't deny I got a bit excited; I've been talking about moving to Wales since we first went, way back when we first started dating). But something about him was different this time, and he made it clear he was actually dead serious. No more talk; time to really start crunching numbers and doing the research.

I was pissed. Not at my family, but just at society in general and the fact that EVERY. SINGLE. EVENT. always revolves around the bloody food! And not even just food - it's always about the "treats" that people don't usually have; it's that point where you can "justify" it, saying 'It's a special occasion'.  Why are people so food-obsessed? (And when I say "people" I whole-heartedly include myself in that!) How can we let ourselves justify feeding the people we LOVE with carcinogenic, inflammatory and destructive "foods" we know are harmful, just because they are (engineered to be) so "tasty"?

My sister-in-law has a black & white Mini Cooper that she calls Domino. There is nothing she doesn’t do for Domino, as far as I can tell, and one day she asked if I could crochet some Mini Knob Hats for him... Yes, I got the girly-giggles too :)

I’ll admit that this is the very first blanket I’ve ever completed. It’s also only the second one I’ve ever attempted. Because they just take so loooooooooooong! And I’m an instant-gratification-type person with a butterfly-brain. I generally work on small projects. But because this is worked in squares that actually only have 4 rounds each, and because the pattern is so easy to follow you can do it while watching TV, it came together really quickly (for me anyway lol). It also helped that I had a lot of motivation to do it – after all, it was a commission and a payment for something I really wanted to do, and the person I was making it for is one of my favourite people in the whole world!

I'm sure most of you know what both astrology and numerology are, but fewer people are as familiar with numerology as they are astrology. For instance, many people can tell you what their star sign (sun sign) is, but I'm doubtful that many could tell you what their Life Path number is, based on the date of their birth, or that we are currently experiencing an 11 Universal Year - a master number that is instructing us to master our lives this year. Been going through a lot of growth and change this year? Now you know why :)

I was totally certain that the "Unschooling" method would work for my intelligent and curious children - surely all they needed was some time to de-school and then they'd be off hunting for adventure in the pages of a book, or Googling something interesting that then takes them on a course of study naturally?   I mean, I'm a natural book-worm (which translates into a cyber-worm these days, I guess...) so I couldn't fathom anything more exciting than having the time and freedom to just explore every interesting thought that came upon me! Surely the apple doesn't fall far from the tree? SURELY my intelligent and innately curious children would follow my example? Erm... No.

You want so much to keep on top of things, so you try to think your way around your problems. But our thoughts are such powerful attractors, that within 16 seconds of thinking of one thing you need to do that stresses you out, another thought just like it arrives. And then another, and another. And so, down you sink into a pit of desperation and fear, your pulse speeding up and your armpits tingling. And you can't even remember the first thing you thought about that so needs to be sorted out. You can't really even make a list of things to do, because in overwhelm your mind is racing and yet oddly blank at the same time.  But here's the thing. Overwhelm is a thoughts-based problem...

I knew I was far from blameless, mostly because I just didn't want to believe it was happening again, and couldn't bring myself to confront him and face the inevitable shit spiral. I am the first one to admit my faults that aided the whole situation, but I just couldn’t give him my trust again, not without serious assurances and physical evidence - which I knew he wouldn't give me unless he had no choice. I had to be the one to hold him accountable and force his hand. So, I did the only thing I could think of. The very last resort.

Aside from all the old-lady comments and jokes from my husband, I was surprised at how much I liked it, and how little there was to it, basically. I was also very surprised at how hip and modern crochet has become - it's a far cry from the frumpy, boring and itchy things I remember from my childhood.  It took a few days for me to really get my head and my hands around it, but once I got it, I really GOT it. And I just couldn't get enough of it. I began to welcome the granny jokes! It took a good few weeks to learn the ins and outs of the different essential stitches, how to get a good tension for the type of project I was working on, and how to get straight edges on square items, but all along the way it was the most engaging, relaxing...

So what makes these specific things so very much a priority in my spare time? Well each one provides different benefits and challenges and depending on what I feel I need in the moment, that will inform my decision on what I pick up and do. But overall, the biggest benefit of having hobbies is the nurturing of my sense of self. It's ME time. It's that point in the day/week when I can just give in to what I love to do rather than do more of the things I HAVE to do that I may or may not enjoy doing. I can relinquish responsibility and just do something that feeds my soul.
